Laura Chandler, President
Laura received her B.A. in psychology at CSULB and her master’s and doctorate in Public Health at Loma Linda University. Laura's early work in the field of community health education was with a local non-profit organization focusing on youth development among at-risk youth. In addition, she spent five years as the Director of Health Education and Promotion with CSUF's student health center. For the last 20 years she has served as a faculty member with CSUF Dept of Health Science teaching courses in community health, program design, nutrition and childhood obesity. Tiffani Earnest, Vice President
Tiffani is a Behavior Specialist for a private in-home behavioral company that works with children and adults with Autism. As a Behavior Specialist, Tiffani develops behavioral programs to best suit each individuals needs and trains staff and parents to implement such programs effectively. Tiffani has worked in the field of Applied Behavioral Analysis for 17 years. In those 17 years she has worked in school, home and community settings. Tiffani is also a wife and mother to two young children. She devotes her spare time to taking her kids to sporting events and organizing school functions. Tiffani has a passion for helping children be the best that they can be and helping to provide them with the opportunities to do so. |
Amy Simpson, Treasurer
Amy has worked as a Property Manager for 8 years. During that time Amy gained valuable experience working with board members, running board of directors’ meetings, and taking care of homeowner and legal issues. Amy ran the office for her family inspection company for 10 years. For the past 4 years Amy has served as a volunteer at her daughter’s school as well as a coordinator for the after-school daycare program. Amy is passionate toward work that betters the lives of children. |
Pam Presnall, Secretary
Pam Reed Presnall is the Director of Development and Community Education at the Mental Health Association, an Orange County nonprofit that serves low-income individuals and families who are impacted by mental illness. As a native of Orange County, she grew passionate about economic and social justice issues during college, and has spent the last fifteen years volunteering with, and working for, nonprofit organizations and unions, serving motel families and the chronically homeless, and advocating for affordable housing and living wages. She was compelled to join the Board of Directors because of its mission to serve homeless and at-risk children in Orange County. Pam has two adult daughters, Taylor and Jordan, and has been married since November, 2012 to Winston Presnall, the Senior Pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Orange. Together, she and Winston launched out of the church a community meal, Sunday Night Together, which, for ten years served a hot meal to an average of 80 hungry and homeless individuals every Sunday. Pam and Winston believe strongly that all humans are valuable and no one should be homeless, hungry or oppressed, particularly children. |
Cheryl Farole-Roman
Dr. Cheryl Farole-Roman is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Psychoanalyst. Cheryl has a private practice in Tustin where she works with adults and adolescents and specializes in long term psychotherapy and trauma. Cheryl decided to serve on the board of HERO with the hope of helping to improve the quality of the life of the youth in which HERO serves. |
Grace Castillo Johnson
Grace is a retiree from the California State University system after serving students for 20 years in various capacities, including as the director of the Guardian Scholars Program. Her experience also includes working for the Department of Education as a K-12 Senior Foster Youth Education Liaison. She also has many years of experience as an administrator in Student Affairs leading with a holistic approach in serving students as it pertains to health and wellbeing. Dr. Johnson holds a doctorate in Education, from the University of Southern California. Her research interest includes the first-year experiences of foster youth in higher education and the relationship between emotional personal connections and student academic success. |
